This program ORBITAL.EXE calculates the electron distribution of a chemical element based on its atomic number as entered by the user. IUPAC / ACS recommendations are followed. The program allows entry of numbers greater than those shown in the periodic table and extended periodic table. [-] [+] previous/next element [x] [/] (or [*] [/] ) groups
For some elements, the basic algorithm yields an "algorithmic" distribution different from the actual normal one. This " degeneracy" ( 42, 43, 44, 46, 57, 78, 89, 90, 97, 98, 101 ) fits no particular pattern as of yet.
For elements above atomic number 118, thus, only the algorithmic distribution is given.
Although theoretically the number entered has no maximum, the presentation "window" has a practical limit of 814.![]()
